I simply refuse to believe stuffing a little motorcycle battery under the fuse box (which can knock the entire vehicle down) is a proper solution to anything. I'm not an EE, but there must be a more elegant way to do this.
I think just a reliable secondary battery would help out tremendously. I've had no problems with my ESS yet, and I'm hoping the problems were just a bad batch of batteries. Also, if the warning system was better, it'd help. It seems like how a lot of folks are finding out the battery is bad is from a bunch of seemingly unrelated warning lights and CELs, instead of the vehicle just telling you the voltage on the second battery is low.

My truck is at the dealer now after the 4 time of leaving me stranded, twice out of state with kids in tow. I will do everything in my power to completely delete this auxiliary system. Can you imagine being out on the trail and the auxiliary battery dies totally disabling your vehicle? F that
