Just bought my second set of ridge grapplers but went to 35x11.5r17 instead of 35x12.50r17

Growing up I remember all the cool kids rocked super swampers SSR and then went to swamped tsl (middle school in 2000s)

As an adult, I think I've seen swampers once (not including my dad's jeep which still rocks 40" tal)

Anyone have any experience with ssr/tsl on the JL or JT platforms that have also experienced other, more common tires (grapplers, Baja boss, at3\4 ect) and photos?

Another post somone commented about SSR and I it blew my mind lol might be my next tire agyer I kill these new nittos... The asr have also looked great imp but curiosity is killin me about how the do as daily and mild offroad

TIA

So far so good. I’ve ran the SSR on my TJ, but this is the first set I put on my JT.
They are an extremely smooth tire!
Took almost no weight to balance they have weight built into the center of the tire, so they’re basically pre-balanced when you get them so cool!
A little pricey, but they are made in the USA!!

What size are you running?? It's freaking awesome looking.... Kinda glad I didn't remember the ssr when I shopping for tires this past week...I would be 2xs in debt lol

Whats the tread wear like?

You have Anything to compare to road noise wise?

I can't compare my dad's jeep as he has an 82 cj7 that's been gutted, 40s, one ton axles, Buick 455...

Ran the SSR radials on a Tahoe and they were great. Had the wide SX's on a fullsize K5 blazer and Thornbirds on a ZR2. Those were both decent but not as nice as the SSR radials

Thank you.

The Tahoe was fun. People always thought I was a Michigan DNR agent with that green Tahoe.
I'm in the market right now to replace my 35x12.50 17 General Grabber ATX's. I'm trying to stick with a white letter tire in 37's to keep with my retro build but might say the heck with it and expand my search for some BSW tires and maybe a set of SSR radials. RIght now, BFG AT's or MT's are the only thing I can find in a OWL tire. Very limited.

My favorite tires were the Denman Ground Hawgs that I had on my K5 back in the day. Rode rough. loud, but damn they were fantastic off road and looked awesome doing it. :)
That tread pattern along with the SS's brings back a lot of good memories for sure.

My uncle had a k5 that was bobbed (I think that's what they called it back when).. Ill have to find some photos of my dad's jeep and uncles K5 next to each other with the swampers. Definitely some memories...I think my next set of tires will be ssr... Can't get over how cool they are

What was the tread wear like on the SSR?

The wear on the SSR's was great for the type of tire it was. It was smooth and fairly quiet and I think I sold it with 60K miles on it and of that, 45Kish were with the SSR's. So they held up well in my opinion. They sure do pop and people take a second look for sure when running those large open lugs like that. Its a "WOW" factor for sure.

Are the 35x11.5x17 Grapplers that much taller or is it a illusion? How do you like the Grapplers in that size? I have my choices narrowed down to the 11.5 grapplers or the 35x12.5x17 General X3 C load tires.

Dang! Why are the 35x11.5s so much taller than the 35x12.5s?
50k miles on the 35x12.50....and they are 4 years old. Lol

The 35x12.50 have 50k miles in the and are 4 years old.... Hence why I bought new tires. Thr 35x12.50 lived their life

As for the 11.50...I haven't mounted them yet. Waiting to get my rubi axles installed first

I love the grapplers but haven't had experience with any other tire on my jeep. The c load tires will definitely give a smoother ride. That is one thing I don't lkke a out the ridge grapplers....that E rated is rough.I was on the fence with the recon grappler as they at every similar with the ridge but the 11.50 recon are c rated. Got a deal on the ridge so I went with them

I ran SSR's about 15yrs ago on a Chevy Tracker ZR2, they were oversized and drove incredibly well for such an aggressive tire. If I could find them at an affordable price I would love to have then on my Mojave.
