I have no sound from my factory sound system so I read through the various threads and tried the various suggestions to try and get it back, but no luck.

The difference with my problem is that every once in a while the sound will suddenly come back, for a few seconds, usually after hitting a good bump or someone slamming the front passenger side door, then be gone again.

I went to a local stereo shop that has a good rep to see if they’d heard of any problems like that and they said it’s common with the Gladiator to have the factory amp go out. I have the Alpine system in my Rubicon and would have thought it would be better than that.

So is there a way to replace that factory amp? Is it so costly I should just upgrade the whole system? Suggestions?

Probably no responses as the factory amp is generally not a common failure. I would think you could plug and play a junkyard unit without much effort if it proves to be the issue. Going aftermarket can be a bit expensive to do correctly as the factory amp is an active DSP unit.

In the passenger side foot well pop off the cover where the cables for your door plugs in. There are 3 ground lugs there, one is the main ground for the factory audio system. If I remember right it is the one in the middle. I was losing sound on mine and after finding those and cleaning the ground and tightening it back up problem went away.
