I too worried about the "unsecured" hood. I realized, as others have stated, breaking a window, pulling a lever, and then the hood release, is all of one more movement than undoing two latches. Unless someone is will hear the glass break, there might not be any gain. There were some claims that the locking latches would hold the hood down more tightly.

My choice for theft deterrence was JScan to set the hood alarm. A thief could cut the cables to the horns, but I do not see an opportunist thinking it through.

The thieves that think it through will be looking to steal whole truck, not something under the hood. Those ones will either have a flatbed tow truck, or tow dollies, or a fob and programmer.

Good luck!

Tried a hood lock on my son's 2009 Wrangler Rubicon, worked fine until he added a RIPP
supercharger, then the lock had to go for the cooler. I'm in favor of locklng latches and
pneumatic hood struts while they're at it

How about some chain and a padlock under the hood?
