Come on Jeep, How about a simple factory hood lock or inside cable release like every other car has.

inside releases only work if the thief isn't willing to break a window to get to it.

Make any sort of inside release using a cable optional - I'll pass when I order. I don't want a cable causing me issues later. Most on American cars go bad eventually.

That's been discussed in the security-related threads talking of hood locks in general - fine unless the battery goes south..............
I don't disagree with some security - but would prefer it be optional. Offer an optional factory cable release for 10 bucks extra. I don't want one, I'd rather use locking latches in the factory positions, but there's been enough people asking about such things over the years - it would be a good idea, IMO, anyway, for FCA to at least offer it.
The usual cable locks would require something that would land right where the trail cam is. (those that work on the safety catch).

I'm all for optional hood locks, or at least an optional system to secure the engine bay.

BOLT makes a jeep hood lock, grill insert wont match most likely but, it'll secure the hood. its affordable, easy install, and will key to your truck key.

I like the simplicity of the Bolt. I only use it if I leave my JT for a extended period or if I'm staying at a hotel ...
I do think this could have been a nice option from jeep themselves, However it was a simple upgrade

A "normal" hood latch release would take away from the Jeep experience. Jeeps have always had exterior hood latches. But, Ive been daily driving Jeeps for 15 years and I have never had a thought or need for a hood lock. Its just not needed.

A number of members have had battery stolen or someone access engine bay in theft attempt. Access CANbus wiring and it can be started. Not a problem here, but in some places, batteries disappear.

I think you can buy it through jeep... But not for models with trail cam, like any X model, Rubicon with the camera and so on

I need trail cam more than a lock. Probably just go with the locking latches of some type. Just paid for an Odyssey battery $$$. At least with the locking latches you can tell is someone broke in and stole the battery .

I figured that when it's time for my battery change, it will be the best I can get/afford and don't want it walking away. I have a cheap pair of locking latches for it. I'll upgrade to better ones, maybe something that can use the Jeep laser cut key later.
But I need that camera - I found out it absolutely helps when driving up to mount the snow plow. Even better than those magnetic antenna with tennis ball things I used before.
And for other uses, too - nice to have on actual trails......
