I had my first anomalous issue today when I went to start my Gladiator. I climbed in, put on my seatbelt, stepped on the brake and pushed the start button. The electronics wake up, and the start button advanced to Acc. Pushed the button again and it went to Run, still no start. The fob was in my jacket pocket, so I took it out and set it in the fob holder, and repeated the steps with the same result...merely cycling through the lights around the Start button. I went through a litany of checks...seat belt, door closed, trans in P, etc. all to no avail. However...I noted that the brake peddle was high and very hard.
I opened and closed the door, re-did my seatbelt, stepped on the brake again....only now the peddle is lower and softer. Hit start, and voila! The engine started up, and I had no more troubles throughout the day and multiple trips.
Any ideas? I’m guessing at the brake pedal...that it was stuck up high and not actuating whatever switch allows the vehicle to start, but that’s purely speculation.
