Just trying to figure out the math - what's the tax rate; what's license; any doc fees?

In CA, it's quite high, and depends on the county you live in (not where you buy it). I unfortunately live in Los Angeles county. So tax and license were nearly 11% of the purchase price. 10.25% of the 11% of this is sales tax (state, county, city) and the balance is for license/etc.

Oh man... that hurts. LA county must be among the highest of the high. On the good side, if that much is in taxes, it means you got that much more off MSRP.

This should help you feel a LITTLE bit better... with a 12% sales tax and HUGE fees to get vehicles into the island, Puerto Rico is by far the craziest pricing of anywhere I’ve lived. I’m glad I moved back to NC just after the JT came out so I was able to get my hands on one, otherwise I didn’t stand a chance!
