Combination of ingenuity, some homemade brackets, a carport with nothing sturdy to work with, and a Lange bracket. Need to fine tune but my quarantine project finally done, just in time for cooler weather.

A $19.00 boat winch, a couple of $10.00 bicycle lifts, some parachord, hooks, some pulleys to redirect the cord, dowels and cord anchored to the joists to act as a safety when it's up in the air.

How does this work? D rings hooked to an eye hook in the floor joist above, ratchet straps holding the load? How did you get it to the back of the bed and hoisted aloft?
thanks

Wondering the same thing. I am looking for a 1 man solution not simply an up in the air, out of the way storage solution, although I need that as well. I am thinking the bed makes a cantalever lift like exists for JK and JL impossible. Even though the JT top is considerably smaller than either the JK or JL, its still pretty much a 2 person job to remove it from what I am have seen if you want to avoid tearing it, or the jeep, up. If someone has a way to conquer this a better way, I welcome the education.

I can take off and install the roof myself in only a couple of minutes. I guide with my left hand, crank the winch with the right hand. Straight up, the hook the safeties, then to put it back down, pull the dowels out of the safety straps and winch it down and guide it into place. One person.
I think the fastest start to finish was 10 minutes or so back on and bolted in place.

First I need a bigger garage :(
I have found out over the years that a bigger garage doesn't help -you just fill it with more stuff and STILL won't have enough room! I had to give away a whole lot of stuff to make space to even get my truck in the garage.

I have four of the D rings in the below picture. You can usually get them in the towing or tie down section at Lowe's or Home Depot. I then tied the 550 cord with two loops. The front shorter and ran thru the bolt holes in the top. The back are longer and ran thru the bolt holes too. I think i will change that though so it doesn't pull on the bottom so much. That new idea is to take the 550 loop thru the rear bolt hole and thru a rod that sits on top of the lip. The third picture is the general idea but the 550 cord will go thru the bolt hole.

As for getting the top off i do it by myself. I open the rear window and grab the top of it and the front of the top while standing in the bed and slowly and carefully walk my way to the back. Then I hook up the ratchet straps and work my way around each to raise them up. It helps I am tall and have long arms.

Let me know if that helps or not.
