My favorite trim is Willys. I love the black wheels, black grille, etc. Still get a rear locker which is plenty for most people especially a guy buying his first Jeep. And I actually prefer the 2.72:1 transfer case over what is in the Rubicon.

Strange thing is, where I live the deals are usually better on Rubicon so....

In what area is it limited? I'm not doing anything major when it comes to modification. Only thing I may do down the line would be a little bit of a lift just to level it out and give some more height. (Going from a RAM 2500 to a Gladiator is gonna make me feel like the small guy on the road. Lol.)
Off the top of my head, I think light mounts that go on the cowl area are different (the cowl panel is taller), and the shocks uses different bolts at the bottom - so lift kits and accessories for a Mojave differ slightly from other Gladiators.

You're closer to my neck of the woods depending on what part of Kentucky. Im in the Mid-Ohio Valley area so most of my wheeling will be back roading unless I make a trip south to Hatfield McCoy area or east to Canaan/Spruce Knob area.

I had a Willys JK and liked it a lot.

I passed on a Willys Gladiator though. I didn't want the 3.73 gears or those awful mud tires.

Okay. As far as lighting I don't plan on trying to shine like the sun. Lol. Just some pods and bumper light bar. Maybe get a bed rack with some lights on the side but nothing major. Lift wise, I would probably be happy with just leveling but its Jeep. So the "plan" could grow more with everything out there for them. Lol.

Yeah, that's the one thing I definitely don't want to compromise on. I want to go to 35's and the 4.10 gears from what I've seen handle it significantly better. I was looking at Sport S with the Max Tow but I couldn't find any with the creature comforts I wanted. Going from a Laramie 2500 which I'll never use for what it's built to do to a Gladiator, I didn't want it to feel like a total downgrade to the equivalent of a 1500 Classic. That's why the Mojave and Rubicon are what I'm looking at.

Tan interior is nice as it will be cooler than Dark interior since you already have a black vehicle. Make sure the steering box is iron and not aluminum.

For sure. Mine is a Sport S Max Tow (I custom ordered it), but I'm used to having low spec vehicles, lol. That being said, other than heated seats and wheel (which I could have ordered) I have everything I ever use, so it works out.

I've been driving a basically stock Gladiator for three years (leveling kit, disconnects, tires).

But for most folks it gets out of hand, lol.

Didn't think about the color for the interior. Especially if the doors and top are off. As for the steering box, is there an obvious indication just by looking at it?

The aluminum will still be a raw metal color (silver looking).

The iron boxes are painted black.

I think you'll only find the aluminum ones on 2020's. Someone can correct me on that. It wasn't long after they went to the iron boxes.

Yeah, for now we're ballin on a budget so I'm not gonna be getting out of hand. Lol. And with a newborn and 6 year old the extent of stuff we CAN do vs what I WANT to do trip wise are limited. Im more of a "Lets go tent camp and cruise backroads and trails for a weekend to see where it takes us." kind of guy. Maybe when the baby is a little older we will but for now it'll be Saturday back roading.

In 2016 I bought a two door JK. In 2018 the ole lady at the time took off, so I had a few years to myself to spend thousand and thousands of dollars on the Jeep and go off-roading nearly coast to coast. By 2022 I met a new ole lady and she has a couple pups and I was ready for a truck again -so I settled on a Gladiator. I was a little worn on all the traveling so the break has been nice.

Well anyway - truck has remained mostly stock since '22 and that has been fine. We mostly take the kids on summer trips to state parks to fish and swim. I occasionally do some dirt road cruising. I do plan to get a little more into offroading again, but nothing like I used to be.

Heck, my last tent camping trip was outside Atlanta Motor Speedway for race weekend, lol. Don't need 4WD for that.

We've started to turn into old folks and enjoy being at home on our acre watching the world slip by 😄

No judgement here, I'm 32 and like being at home watching the world slip by, taking in the moments. But I also want the kiddos to experience some of the things I did growing up. Mine weren't in a Jeep though, so I'm putting my own little twist on it. Lol. :)

One thing to consider: There are a lot of accessories that do not fit the Mojave package, but work on every other trim. Going with the Mojave will significantly limit some of your modding options.
Only in some of the suspension areas, otherwise, there's some really nicely appointed Mojaves out there. I can't think of anything other than certain suspension parts that might not go as easily into Mojave.
