So about a year ago I installed the OEM Aux switched to power some cube lights on my hood. I used them a handful of times and no issues. I did have the free trial of XM radio so that is all I listened to. Now my trial has expired so I listen to FM. However when I turn my hood lights on with the AUX switches I get a horrible static noise in the FM. What could this be? Thanks

LED DC to DC power supplies tend to cause radio interference sometimes, especially on cheaper LED's but not always. Usually way worse in the AM band.

One solution is to look into Ferrite Coil/Core Chokes that clamp over the power side of a circuit to mitigate interference. Another solution is to try a different brand/type of LED lights.

AMEN!
Tha cheaper the light, the worse the RF radiation. Some of those generate noise from DC to light!
Plus one on trying a different light.
A ferrite core, or a choke coil, or a bypass capacitor on the power leads of light, radio, or both might help, but usually the interference isn’t on the power lines.

So I had to look up what these are. Do I just clip one over the power to the lights or clip it on the main power for the AUX switches? Thanks

Generally they are clipped closet to the device in use, in this case, the LED light.

I would also add that I left out in my first reply is to make sure your ground connections are solid on you LED light circuit.

Thanks for the reply. I will double check my grounds. I’m pretty sure the harness used the factory ground post near the battery.
