Front-of-bed rack. Useful? Useless? Opinions?

I don't want a full rack on my rig and have seen several versions of this style of rack. Anyone have experiences to share, good or bad? What do you carry on it? Recommended brands?

Most likely strap on recovery gear while on the trail to make it accessible, perhaps Wavian fuel can on one side.
That's the reason for me asking is to see what folks have found it handy for.

I have the Diamond Back SE cover on mine to keep things secure. Mounted a half cargo rack towards the front. In the cargo rack I have mounted two. 2.5L gas cans and 2 traction boards, I have room for a small cargo box that I will add later. Also added side lights and a amber flashing light in the rear. So far, liking it. The cargo rack I bought of Amazon.

I have the Rebel Offroad 1/2 height rack. I use it for:

1. RotoPax water and fuel cans on the sides
2. 10' x 10' popup on top.
3. Stepladder on top.
4. Tie downs on the inside.
5. 9 gallon propane tank carrier.
6. Hi-Lift jack.

plus anything else I need to throw up on top.

I bolted some unistrut to the black horse classic roll bar and made my own. I'm really happy with it. I wanted to keep my tonneau / bed space but didn't want a full rack / camper etc.

I think the bed front is a solid middle ground.
