Front speaker options

Just wondering what everyone has done? I know about the Kenwoods, but that doesn’t address the lower dash speakers. I know about the Terra acoustics but they’re pretty expensive (I’d probably try them at $150) and also do nothing to address the lower dash speakers. I do have a few older sets of mid end component speakers but I really don’t like the idea of having the mud by my knees and just tweeters in the dash. Anyone running a set of components like this that could weigh in?

There's been quite a few threads about replacing the front speakers, even some recently. Most of the concentration seems to be on the 3.5" dash speakers as they are by far the easiest to get to. I haven't done anything yet but I'm seriously thinking about just swapping out the fronts.

From my younger, stupider days I have a left over set of NIB MB Quart DKC108 3.5" speakers that I'm thinking about throwing in.

I thought the same thing at first. The knee panel speakers sound muddy / muffled and I was 100% set on replacing them. But, I decided to do the 3.5" upper dash speakers as well as the 3.5" sound bar speakers first, since the installation is super easy. I think the system sounds really good now and I have no desire to change the knee panel speakers. I used the 3.5" Infinity Reference REF-3032cfx speakers in both the dash & sound bar. I have the upgraded Alpine system.

I put some jbl 6.5’s in there , I put sound deadening material and baffling inside.

What’s weird is the factory speakers are ported to the front .. Metra pods are not ported. I also took black window caulk and sealed around the whole Metra pod to make sure I had no air leaks. On the back you have a rubber gasket that about 1.5 inches in diameter . Sometimes I reach my hand back there and take it .. I’m undecided if it sounds better ported or not.
