Reading some of the MPG threads and the numbers folks are claiming makes me wonder if something is wrong with my JTR. @8000 miles and still stock... 16ish overall average is the best I have gotten...

On the interstate I am lucking to even reach that ....i actually do better in town.

Just not seeing how on earth anyone is getting in the 18-19s...let alone low 20s.

I know I am not that much of a led foot.

Getting ready to take a trip end of the month from Orlando to Oak Island NC....so I might reset everything and do manual calculations. But I fully expect ~16mpg on the high side.

I don't think there is anything wrong with your JTR. From day 1 my JTR LE has never gotten the MPG that was on my sticker. Don't get me wrong it has improved as the engine wore in but after 8K miles and 14 months of ownership, I expected better.

Right now I am averaging 16mpg overall - Not bad and that is about 4mpg higher versus winter (no resets)
City MPG Is pretty terrible I'd say it likes 14 mpg at best, and winter is way worse

Highway mpg - best I've done is 19.5 but it settles in between 17.5-19.0. Honestly longer trips (4 hours) it is in the 18 something range pretty consistently throughout the trip which is a combination of all conditions, some level ground and high elevation climbing.

The Rubicon does seem to be the more thirsty of the different trims. While I could understand a difference of 1 or 2 MPG between a rubicon and say a Sport, but 4-5-6 MPG difference??? Not buying it. When I see overstated fuel efficiency numbers I take it with a grain of salt. Jeeps are just not known for their fuel efficiency, but yet some folks swear they average over 20 in the city. I'm not saying it can't be done, but that is definitely more abnormal than normal because if that were the case no one would ever mention MPG as it relates to Wrangler and now Gladiator..

I do not touch my overall vehicle fuel information. I do reset my TRIP A gauge with every fill up. That gives me a good indication of what I'm getting for MPG whether the bulk of my driving was city/backroads, a mixture of city/highway, or straight highway. Therefore, I'm pretty confident with the MPG numbers I'm getting with my vehicle.

I've been keeping the instrument cluster set to show MPG continuously. That way I can see how my selection of gear (6-speed) for various conditions of speed and throttle affect the instantaneous fuel consumption.

This will allow me to vary my driving habits to achieve best MPG.

With the 8-speed, I assume one could do something similar; even though the gear selection is automatic, you could still observe how the throttle affects MPG at various speeds.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned it yet. At only 740 miles, the computer is still learning how you drive. You need to give it some more time. Or drive the truck more. Also, if needed have someone or the dealer check to make sure the computer is set correctly for the gearing and proper tire size. This can also make a difference.
Thank you! I was going to finish reading along the string in this forum before bringing this up as well. I was a couple thousand miles into my Sport S before I started seeing some normality in my mileage. Prior to that it was not good.

My MPG on Mickey Thompson atz p3 35 tires (315/70r17) inflated at 36 cold (Bc it’s 98 degrees) have been getting phenomenal gas mileage. I mostly drive local. Definitely though they are a wee bit rough at this PSI and when run hot they are 39 psi easily.

attached is a pic of the average fuel mileage since ownership.

it definitely is getting better compared to 1000 miles ago
