Fuel ranges correct ?

2500 miles in and every fuel up range is off....Holds 22 gal , Says 13 miles to empty and only takes 17-18 gallons to fill , leaves a lot of buffer for running out , I usually fuel up at 1/4 tank and don't check but the few times I have been down that low it's off ? Any thoughts ?

Multiple threads on this issue. I can get 400 miles out of a tank when traveling, but don't try to. I fill up when it drops below half. Jeep appears to be conservative in order to not be replacing fuel pumps under warranty for those drivers that tend to run the tank down to empty.

I agree with overheated fuel pumps as to why I usually get fuel around a quarter, I was just curious if this is a common thing.

Try running a diesel lift pump dry…it’s a blast. I encourage diesel owners to fill up at 1/4 tank.

Oh I know all to well coming from a 20' Mega cab Cummins dually, Never went below a 1/4.

Every vehicle will have a reserve of a couple gallons when it hits E. (except motorcycles which will have 1/2 to 1 gal). DO not want to run that pump dry....

Understood on some reserve - I was just thrown off by 13 to empty and still had almost 5 gal in there after fill up.

The diesel is conservative as well. I've ran mine down to low fuel just to see what is left and it takes a little over 16 gallons. It's advertised as an 18-gallon tank, but the build sheet actually says 19 so there are still 3 gallons left. Don't recommend doing this, but I like knowing my limits and how the gauge actually reads.

Not sure what the gas one actually is, but in my JK it was 22.5 gallons and running it down to E it would take 19.

It will always be just a best-guess estimate, and it will always be a conservative estimate. This is normal. If you're expecting to get exactly what it says for remaining mileage, you're gonna have a bad time.

Not wanting to run it empty to find out just curious if anyone else might have been so bold as to do so , I was in a hurry this time around and got it down to empty , normally fill up at a 1/4.
