Changed the fuel filter today. Got the old one out and pushed the new one in place. Something don't feel right. So I removed the new filter. Found this o-ring sitting on top of the filter. Where does it go to? It goes in the top of the filter. It was in the new filter. I must have dislodged it when I removed the filter. It's a pita to put back in place.

Old filter looked good. No metal participles on it. It's got about 14,000 miles on it. Bit over-do. LOL

My fuel filters have always been clean but I still change them early. Not a bad habit I guess.

Don't feel bad. I change mine somewhere between 20,000 - 25,000 mile intervals. If you can believe this, the original OE recommendation was 30,000-mile intervals when the EcoDiesel was first released. So, changing the filter at 25,000 miles was early. My filters have always looked good, so I've continued with 25,000-mile intervals.

I try to change mine around the 10,000 mile mark. Even before the pump recall. My filters looked good.

For most people, the 20,000 - 30,000 mile interval works fine. There are certain regions where there's more asphaltenes in the fuel, which is one reason why FCA reduced the filter change interval. If I remember correctly, this was noted in a TSB several years ago.

I thought after the fuel pump recall they told us to start changing the fuel filter every oil change?
It's in the new paperwork. Every oil change. I still do mine at 10,000 miles.

It depends on the fuel you get, according to supplemental booklet, if I remember correctly.
I’m in Denver, I’m told that we get a bit better diesel as compared to other parts of the country.
