Garage Door with Carplay Cheap

I did a search but didn't see this anywhere. Meant to post a thread back when I bought my truck. I thought some of you might find it helpful.

I was pleasantly surprised when I first hooked up my iphone to carplay that my garage door operations in the "Home" app showed up.

My garage opener is too old to work with the buttons on the sunvisor and my clicker wasn't working to well either so a few years ago I purchased meross smart garage door opener. It works great with apple homekit so I was just using my phone either by the app or siri.

The garage door showed up on my Mojave radio as soon as I plugged my phone in and it works great. It is geofencing and only shows up when you are close to the house.

I have the non-HomeKit version (because cheaper) but running it through homebridge so it works like the HomeKit version. Super easy to install. It's pretty much universal; if you can touch the tips of a set of needle nose pliers to the wall button terminals on your overhead opener and it opens, it'll work.

That’s really cool. Mine works well with the three different garage doors I’ve programmed it to, but that’s really cool option.

The install is pretty easy. I used large binder clips to run the sensor wire down the garage door center chain track. I read through the amazon reviews for other tips also. good luck. It's pretty slick and let's you know when your garage door is opened from anywhere.

I use a Nexx similarly, just in case anyone is doing some shopping lol. It's been great for the year or two we've had it.

edit to clarify - Siri doesn't speak directly Nexx. I just use a shortcut to do the same thing.

Man, how old is your opener? Mine worked with a 1980 Sears opener! (until the gears went bad in the opener and instead of fixing it, I put in a new top of the line belt drive opener)

House was built in 1999, we bought it a few years ago. My previous house I built in 2000 and the garage door openers on it didn't work with my 2000 Tahoe, my wifes 2013 Chrysler Van or my 2014 Camaro SS. This house also didn't work on those vehicles when we moved in so honestly I just assumed it wouldn't work with the Gladiator and when the app popped up on my radio the day I bought the truck, I never even tried the built in visor buttons. Maybe it will work, I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the heads up. Eather way, I'm not out anything since I bought the Meros opener prior to the Gladiator. Although, I will feel a bit dumb if the visor buttons work, duh!!!
