I don't have issues getting around the BSTs, didn't have a WHD currently, I was more pointing out the weight of the pull truck, to plant and command what you're pulling. When I get my hitch to the back corner of a semi, feels like it's sucking the camper and tailgate in so I have to correct, when same spot gets to passing the nose if the semi, getting pushed the other way. Just a driving feel things you have to get used to what you're pulling, I've had the same behavior in an f-150 too. I think it'd be better in my gladiator if I had an extra 5-600lbs in the bed, but that's eating a good 2/3 of my sticker capacity with me included(it's 960lb ish), without the trailer. (I don't subscribe to stickers, so don't think I'm in the emissions cult). Oh I missed the length of towing vehicle you mentioned, that's a good point too, basically breaks down to leverage, longer pry bar, but still you gotta have the weight and be able to plant and use that leverage
Get yourself a good WDH set up and you'll see that the wind blast issues you've experienced from the BSTs will get minimized. In addition, a good WDH set up will help transfer some of the weight forward and will help your front end feel more 'planted'. That'd help with that 'extra 500 lbs in the bed' you're looking for without having to add that extra 500 lbs in the bed.

As I've mentioned in the past, I measured the height of my receiver to the ground without my trailer hitched up, then with my trailer hitched up and the drop was about 1 1/2". Then I connected the WDH bars and remeasured and found the drop was only about 3/4 of an inch vs. not having anything connected. Plus, I have noticed, when towing, that the front end feels just as planted as if I wasn't towing anything. Ergo, get ye to a good trailer place and get yourself set up with a good WDH system. As from personal experience, for me the BlueOx system has been a really great addition to my setup.

Any excuse to show off camping/trailer pics, Im down. I use the curt echo, but thinking about a hard wired one. It works fine, no issues though. Use the Anderson WDH. It seemed to be one of the lighter ones. Also, for tow mirrors, I love my K-source ones. I never take them off. Highly recommended. I def have some squat. One day I may get bags but for now, my drive to either camp is not far. I have an overland. She screams going up hills. Could def use some gearing. camper is 4000lb dry, I have 6000 limit

My camper and my buddies camper needing to be maneuvered into a real tight spot. (Mine is the smaller one, have a drop hitch now that can do 6" up or down). And got these nice tow mirrors that clip on, Brand is called Snap & Zap.

I didn't want to hassle with wiring and removing my 12v connection, so I opted for the Curt 51180 Echo... a blu tooth phone controlled brake controller.

Came here to say can't beat the Curt Echo brake controller. Zero under/in the dash work - it plugs into the 7pin outlet and the trailer plugs into it. I keep my phone on a mount with the brake controller app open so I can see the level of braking at eye level up on the dash during our trips. Works great, can move it from vehicle to vehicle in seconds.

Just got back from a trip this afternoon, this is an unfortunate picture from a recent storm, could have rolled it, didn't have a 5th wheel hitch.... Would have looked pretty slick though

Just to be clear, my truck, not my camper, that's an unofficial park and ride lot next to my place. I had no connection/affiliations, just had to let Stanley pose for a picture..... c'mon, who's not going to pull over and take a picture

100% agree! Mine is wonderful and never had an issue. Set on 4 of 9 and trailer brakes are perfect.
