Okay - I really like the operable windows on this topper! I want it in black, too. You said it was an A.R.E.... but it didn't come in black. Sorry: confused. Which model is this? I WANT ONE!

Its the ARE CX Classic. I bought it non painted and painted it with Kevlar.

Yes, we are taking it back to paint to make it matte. color code is correct, its sheen is off.

Thanks for being a trail blazer! I took myself down to my local ARE dealer and ordered a CX Classic for my Gladiator. Added the front drop/slider window, dual rope lights, pet screens, Yakima racks, and ordered it in matte black. It'll be their first Jeep Gad install.

After all was said and done, it was 3K and I couldn't spend more to get it specially painted (texture/sheen to match the removable Jeep top and fenders), so it may not match exactly... but it'll do exactly what I need: haul the dogs and keep 'em out of the cab.

Not that I've got anything else to do but wait... but 6 weeks is going to crawl until this comes in!

So are these "easily" removable? Like mount when you need it and dismount when you don't? Camping for me and the family from South Florida is really only a 5 month window as it's too hot for our tastes otherwise. Would store it for a few months and use during the season. Never had a topper, or pickup for that matter, so just asking.

Yes. 4 of these. 1 minute removal. It’s cumbersome but three people or a jig from roof to take off.

Very pleased with my ARE shell CX Classic - upgraded to custom matte black paint, interior LED lighting, pet mesh/wire on windows, fold down front sliding window, and Yakima roof racks... Looks sharp on my Gladiator and changes the entire look!

Looks like the worlds longest lj... lol it looks really nice. I’m really leaning towards ARE, but I 1) don’t know their actual roof capacity, and 2) if they’re making an HD.

How much does your cap weigh? Wasn’t sure if I read their chart correctly, but if it’s at 175, that’s not much heavier than the steel caps available

That sounds about right about the weight. I built an internal brace to take more than enough of the load for my uses.
