I'm extremely disappointed with the enormous length of the Gladiator. Come on now, guys, how many of us Jeep fanatics are actually going to carry motorcycles in the bed, or 4x8 sheets of plywood, with the gate half-way down? Sure, it might look good in a Jeep marketing photo op for your fantasy dreams, but in the harsh realities of the real world (that we all live in), maybe 1 in 1,000 Jeep owners, if even that, are actually going to do this. I sure hope FCA comes to their senses, and offers a short 3.5 to 4-foot short bed, so the car stays at a reasonable length for driving to work and parking and navigating around the malls. Truth be told, admit it, the lion's share majority of us use our Jeeps primarily as daily commuters and weekend mall crawlers. Very few Jeep buyers are going to spend the realistic $75k+ for a fully loaded and tricked out to the max 2021 Gladiator Rubi diesel (including all costs, like sales tax, EFW, licensing, delivery, et al), and then take your beautiful new car out into the boondocks so it gets badly damaged, all scratched-up, and terribly dented, maybe even rolled over onto its roof and totaled-out, whilst navigating gigantic boulders. Let’s get real here, peeps.
Agreed I would like it shorter as well, but a 3.5 to 4 foot bed is worthless. I have said it before, but here it is once again. In an ideal world I would take 5 inches out of the backseat, the kids will be fine with less leg room. Then keep everything else the same. Again that is an ideal world for me, I am sure others will put more value in the back seat than I do. I too am concerned about the length / break over angle, but not concerned enough to not buy one.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. I’ll have to see one in person to see, but I’m not liking the length hence my original post. I like the 4 doors just take out 6” of the backseat like you mentioned and it would be perfect.

I parked my tacoma next to one, and it is def longer, it has a big ass end, its going to hit allot of things on the trail :) But we are ok with that
In the Grand Scheme of trucks . . . comparing a crew-cab Taco with the Glad (a crew-cab only) - Spec sheet comparisons available here, are only 6" apart and the Taco is ~an inch wider. But the real TELL is in the Break-Over Angles for off roading purposes . As far as "mall crawling / pavement driving," I see TONS of 1/2 ton pickups doing JUST FINE about town, and the ones with off road packages, doing the same; as long as the Driver knows its limits (and his/hers) ! ;)
Of course the real "champ" is the JLUR .

Here is my take. I think it looks extremely long in pictures, and I am not sure I am going to like it in person. I believe the mistake Jeep made was not making the rear doors closer to the size of the fronts. Make them take up more space of the rear cab. The rear doors being so much smaller make the whole cab look out of proportion to me.

WHO ASKED YOU ? :) ;) . TO THE DOOR-POINT . . . In an AUTOLINE DAILY interview at the (I think LA auto show) the "Jeep Guy" was asked that design question . . . He sort of side skirted it a bit . . . and said they wanted to keep the same door size as the Wrangler Unlimited's - for obvious reasons ! SO I do agree, with the prominent door outline, the proportions do look a little "odd" ! That's compromise for ya ! But the getting in and out of the back doesn't appear to be a problem !
And the class leading legroom a ++ ! As a side note, IF they had made a "Quad" cab version, they could of improved on a # of things back at the ass end -- break over angle for instance or made the bed longer and kept the "not so good"
break- over ! Maybe by the Refresh (~2024?) THEY WILL HAVE 2 OR EVEN A 3RD VERSIONS ?

If you actually want a 3.5’ bed, just get a JL. I can’t imagine a set of circumstances where I would find a 3.5’ bed useful - I’d be just as well off without one at that point. Seriously - 3.5’? Has anyone ever successfully sold a truck you can fit an infant bath into?

Reminds me of the bed of the Hummer H2 truck. Now that short bed was a total joke.
