Does anyone have any annoying glitchy issues with Android Auto? Mine drives me insane with how much it doesn't work like it should.

2021 JTR
8.4" audio
Tazer mini
Google Pixel 6 Pro (also a POS glitchy product)

Things it does:
-Waze constantly locks up and will occasionally right itself, but then locks up again. Unplugging phone will fix it for a second.
-Spotify sounds like it's being played through a pillow. No real volume at all. I have to crank it way up just to get it to a reasonable jamming dB. If it switch to SXM, the volume is blaring in comparison.

So I'm not sure where the problem lies. Is it the stupid phone? Android Auto? The head unit? Perhaps the Tazer is causing the screw up?

Anyone run into anything like this?

No issues here. Ive had my 2021 JT for a little over a month now and the experience is better than my previous Sync 3 SUV.

I think your issue may be your USB cable. Try another cable. I've had similar experiences in other cars when my cable was failing or not fast enough.

Mine will tell me it can't connect to the phone for a while. I just leave it plugged in and it connects in a few minutes.
No lockups or other issues as you describe though.

Lot of things in play here. I use Android Auto at all times in mine and have learned a few things. I also have a Tazer and have not had issues and I doubt it is impacting your situation.
USB cables have been a CONSTANT pain for me, and others as well. I have to swap them out every few months. Many brands, lengths, quality levels, un/braided, etc. I've read various theories about why, but regardless, every 4ish months the gremlins start showing up, I swap the cable and it improves drastically. So I'd definitely start with changing out your USB cable.
In general, I'd suspect your phone more than the radio itself. It's really just displaying what the phone sends it. Your phone is the brain here. When I upgraded my phone from an older Pixel to a newer Samsung, there was a very distinct difference in how my android auto behaved. Much more responsive and less bugs in general, but also some new/ different bugs.
I've experienced serious problems with Waze, was worse on the Pixel, but still bad enough on the Samsung that I gave up and just use Google maps. Occasional issue with it not wanting to zoom in appropriately, but otherwise WAY more stable than Waze. As for your Spotify, I've noticed a significant drop in volume as well. Set Spotify to a comfortable loudness, then switch over to another source (FM/Sirius) and it's blasting! It was way worse on the Pixel, but still present on the Samsung. On the Samsung, spotify locks up way more often. On the sound quality, I've never had any issues with spotify. You might check your settings in the app. You can set the sound quality, so it may be a setting needs adjusted. Your cellular bandwidth will come into play as well, it will drop quality when the signal isn't as strong.

So all that to say that the Tazer probably has no impact here, swap out your USB cable, it's probably the phone more than anything else. You're not alone on these issues and it's not just on Jeeps.

I've been reading some mixed results on people adding an aftermarket wireless android auto adapter. I might try it myself if anything good comes across for black Friday

I've had an issue where any movement on the cable, at the dash plug or center console plug, disrupts my Android Auto connection, and then takes anywhere from 5 seconds to several hours to start working again. That sucks when you're offroad and loose music, etc., but it even happens on pavement. I've tried several different cables and just ordered another Samsung brand cable (S21 Ultra). The best so far has been the braided with magnetized cables, but they're acting up now.

I had mine in the shop yesterday for a rear camera replacement and asked them to make sure all connections were plugged in good. They said there was a flash for the radio, which they did, and then said they tested it on several of their phones with no issues. As soon as I drove home it started again. I still feel a lot of movement in the dash plug compared to those in the rear seat.

I'm hoping the new cable will make a difference, with the next step being me pulling the dash and radio to check the connections myself. FWIW, 8.4" head unit.
