Green horn question

So I took the Glad (Sport S) up Bald Mountain (Maine). First off road, pretty good. Should have lowered the pressure, and stock tires, but all in all good! My question: when I got to the top and tried to put it in park I got a message saying vehicle in motion and I could not put in park. 4 low and complete stop. When I shut her off, and re-started, it let me put into park.

I am not an off road guy, just occasional trails and such. Am I missing something? Never had that in the 08 wrangler I graduated from.
