I am no electrical engineer to say the least. I am putting a red arc dc/dc charger in my square drop trailer. I have the positive ran from battery to rear Anderson connector. And to positive input on the red arc. For the ground on the vehicle side do I need to run a ground from battery back t the Anderson plug or can I just ground to the rear chassis? Thanks for any help.

A good ground from the truck chassis would do. Not from the trailer.

Yes on the using the chassis for a ground.
These have decent ground from the battery to the body and frame.
If you think about it - the 230 amp alternator grounds through the block and chassis with no dedicated ground wire otherwise.

There's a frame ground points on each sides of the frame near the rear wheel well. Avoid grounding to any components that are bolts to the frame via nutserts.
