Wait WTF! You have a water jet!?
I like the rounded corners better. But mine didn't come that way.
I like the rounded but when it comes time to capping the end it’ll be tough to round the cap and angle inward. But yes I have my own plasma and cnc table. The water is for dust capture and somewhat keep material cool while cutting (if I add more water to submerge the material). Unfortunately my plasma isn’t strong enough To cut 1” thick to create my own D ring mounts

Nice! Could probably make the corners out of 3/16 and round them or roll them. A rounded corner is definitely stronger than a flat one.

Should I chop the corners make them higher and not try to match the bottom of the bed? Id create a slanted bottom filler plate too. And should I put more angle into the corner? There will be a cap at the end too, just held that piece for references

I would come down just a hair, just to make sure you slap the bumper and not the bed. I’d say half inch should suffice.

What I found was a good hidden hitch was a YJ spring mount license plate holder from the junkyard. I designed the bumper exactly as wide as the plate and used motorcycle lights. When the hitch was in because it was a drop hitch you could still read the plate.

I don’t rock crawl but I play in the dirt a lot at this ranch where we go shooting. So I’m not worried about departure angle and bashing the bed in on rocks. But I wanted something not stock lol. Sticks out too much and I just wanted to be different. I didn’t want a basic 3”x 4” capped off tubing either. I like it so far, when it’s welded I add more material to round off the edges. I’m going to cut off the bottom edges in the corner I colored in red other than that I think I’m done with the corners, just add the filler end cap.
I’m planning ahead with leaving top corner with surface area for swing out tubes too.

This is my final after working numerous cuts to the corner. I think when it’s all welded grinded and rounded edges it’ll look totally different. I’ll finish puzzling the right side together another day so I can work on a legit mounting. What I did for now was just to hold it up as I mocked it up. Once it’s all together left and right corners. I can get better measurements plus precut for the sonar sensors, rear facing flush mounts, and d ring which I’ll tie into one of the frame mounts plus gussets

Got the next couple days off from day job to mess with the bumper ideas. But I’m really liking the simple looks and design of the scrambler concept rear bumper. And again I’m not a rock crawler so the chances of me dropping my rear on a rock are slim to none.

Got a base down for the mounts. I know for a fact so far the design is not leaving enough room for the hidden hitch. License plate pocket is too shallow. I’ll figure that out when I get there if I have to make bumper deeper or just put hitch receiver just under the plate or no plate pocket flat all the way across like the scrambler concept which leaves room for hitch receiver and flip up plate.

Here’s the top of the bumper, roughly. Thinking I’ll cut it in two pieces right down the middle or I’ll make the license plate pocket one piece and put the bend on top then weld the two sides but that might be making more work than I should. We’ll see. My cut table can only cut a max of 48” wide otherwise I’d cut one solid piece which is 66.5” end to end.

Have you thought about wrapping further forward for addional side protection?
