We had some bad hail and my insurance company is covering for a new hood. I have a 2023 Gladiator - none Rubicon or Mojave. I could just go with an an exact replacement but I started thinking that since they are going to replace the hood and repaint it, maybe I should consider an upgrade. Looking for recommendations. and costs.

i believe if considering the Mojave hood you will need new cowl parts as well, if i was to change i think the Rubicon hood is what i would consider

Hood style is a personal choice. Also, the Mojave hood is steel so it is heavier than the others which are aluminum.

Anyone have any experience with too much water and so forth coming through Mojave or Rubicon scoop/vents?
Wonder how it would be with a hood that had both?

Most likely you have hail damage on the cowl as well so I say go for the Mojave hood. Also the Mojave hood is higher and makes the truck look more lifted than it is.

The mojave vent is closed and I think the rubi vents are too, so no water comes through. I tried opening the vents on my JK recon and all it did was get the engine dirty.

Thanks Whiteglad. I too had been looking deeper into the 'cosmetic" aspects of the vents and as you have found, just puts dirt and water where they were never intended to be.

I absolutely HATE scoops for cosmetic purposes only. I agree they look really really badass-cool, but if it's not for any real use then, why? True poser status If you ask me. A lot like having a 4 cylinder in a camaro....
Might as well buy some of those 3m stick-on scoops and some chrome spinner hub-caps at Auto Zone.

That being said, can anyone think of a real, valid use for a scoop? I'd love to have a mojave hood that serves a purpose...

Several owners have posted about opening their Mojave hood scoops. To be fully effective, you would also need to make ductwork to the engine air intake.

Almost! We had the worst hail storm in 25 years. It was rare not to see a vehicle without hail dents or cracked windshields. Body shops were backlogged for months.
