Hard shift / bang from 3rd to 4th

2020 sport s max tow. When starting from a cold start with not much idle time before moving the truck with shift hard and bang into 4th gear when going from 3rd. After the first shift it is fine and all other gears are fine. If it sits and warms up a bit it doesn’t do it. More gas or going uphill when it tries to shift makes it worse. The local jeep dealer is telling me it’s normal, but some others here are saying it was their D clutch. Don’t know what to think.

Does it shift hard into reverse also? I believe the clutch that engages going into 4th gear is also used for reverse. I had this same problem and it finally got bad enough that one time the jeep went into limp mode and kept me in third gear until I shut it off and restarted. I ended up getting a new transmission under warranty.

Could just be a guide that got lose. Happen on my 85 scrambler.

Sometimes it does in reverse. Picked it up today, let it warm up 10 mins before moving and it was okay shifting.
