I chose to buy and install a Frontrunner Slimline II rack on my SmartCap EvoA because at the time (almost 2 years ago) I honestly didn't think I would ever get an RTT. We had a little camper trailer that I intended to use. Things change.
Now I no longer have a trailer and have looked at the specs for the Slimline II and it will hold a small RTT easily. The SmartCap won't have any issue with the weight either.

My concern is the raised edges of the slimline and being able to get in there to bolt the RTT on.
I would really like to keep my OVS 270 awning attached to the slimline as well. (I know I want everything ha)

So, I am looking for anyone with experience mounting an RTT on the slimline and or warnings about using that roof rack for some reason (including simply the ease of use for mounting an RTT). Really my last resort option would be to sell the slimline II and get cross bars or something else, hoping I don't have to do that.
Tips, tricks anything that is helpful will be appreciated!

Did you ever figure anything out? I am looking to get the Smart Cap and add a RTT.

I LOVE my SlimLine II. Damn straight I've got a RTT on it. And an RDS 8' 360deg awning on it. And a kitchen table hung under it. The SlimLine II is great. FrontRunner Outfitters sells quick release RTT mounts that perfectly raise the tent up so you don't have to worry about the raised edges (and your tent is easy to take on/off!). Also look into their folding tables that slide underneath, they're awesome.

I agree with James comments (jsyn) - the quick release RTT mounts are the best option I found and were recommended by a couple of different local 4x4 shops. I do like the slimline on my SmartCap and like that most of their accessories are less expensive than other brands.
I ended up NOT getting an RTT, at least postponing it until I get settled in retirement (yay, can't wait for 12/31 and stop going to work!). I got one of those cot-tents and just use it with my 270 awning and that works fine for now.
