You'd definitely want to go with 5.38's with 40s. With 37s I think 5.13 are optimal in my opinion. I run 5.13 with 39s and its not enough.
Do you tow at all or have a lot of steep hills in your area. I believe that is the main difference.

Loving my 5.13 gears in my JT. No regrets at all. Added the pedal commander and it gets even more fun. Nothing like chirping 37’s from a stoplight and having great acceleration to match. Thought about 4.88 because of the larger pinion but glad I went deeper.

I don't tow, and Iive in Houston where it's super flat.

The wider and heavier tires have a bit more rolling resistance. 5.13 is optimal for 37s imo. 5.38 is barely enough for 40s to keep it in 8th gear.

Might as well add 40s onto this. I don't know about rpm range specifically but most go with either 5.13 or 5.35. 5.35 if going tow from what i understand.
40 “ tires with 5.13 gears at 75mph. 2165 rpm
40” tires with 5.38 gears at 75mph. 2371 rpm
