This one is going to be a love it or hate it type of thing...

I have had multiple turbo all wheel drive Subarus so, I've definitely got a soft spot in my heart for the Hella Supertone horns. Found them on Amazon for less than 40 bucks so I figure, if it's terrible, I'm only out 40 bucks!

My initial plan was to just put them on a momentary switch in my switch system but when I got started, I decided to leave the factory horns in place and tie the Hellas in with a relay so they get as much power to them as they can.

Super simple bracket to hold them centered behind the grill and we're off to the races!

I must admit, I've always liked these things for the way they look just as much as for their absolutely ear splitting obnoxious sound and they hit the mark on this application as well.

Here's the important part.

My decision to leave the factory horns in place definitely paid off. The mix of the two tones from the Hellas alongside the factory horns is absolutely perfect and SO LOUD! HAHA!

Did you splice them into the factory horn wiring?

I did tie a signal wire for a relay into the factory horn wiring.
how? trying to wire in a small air horn setup for wife and i can't figure out the wiring to save my life, there's a black and grey/green wire, and both show as 'ground' with a multimeter on both horns

No they don't. Did you happen to actually trigger the horn when you were checking for voltage?

yeah i tried that, i talked to the people who make the horn kit they said that both lines will show as grounded until you hit the horn, then the grey/yellow wire goes hot, so i'll just take their word for it and wire it up in morning as such once i find a place to put the horns in the cramped bay, love that diesel but man it takes up almost all the room under the hood

@av8or I don't want to be a dick but I also don't think I should blindly give wiring info out on the internet without at least making sure the person on the other end at least knows how to find a signal wire.........

Oh okay, cool. Yeah, they're correct. It's the grey/yellow wire you're looking for.

it's all good fam, i didn't take it that way, unfortunately being home alone there was no good way to check for voltage at the horn with no one to lay on the horn while i was checking :D

Yeah, I hear ya. I had to set off the panic alarm to get it figured out... I was at least smart enough to unplug both horns while I was doing it though! Haha!
