This fell onto the driver side dash this morning while driving. I have never lowered the windshield or attempted to.
The item is a square clear plastic with a black sticky backing.

It is an anti-abrasion or anti-rattle strip. Usually used where electrical connectors, stand offs or wire harnesses come together to prevent chaffing and or rattle/squeak sounds.

I would not stress over it. Sometimes bits and bobs of assembly trash are found.

Fog light harness connector on the right side of the right frame rail near the front bumper?
Sometimes pads are applied at the factory to protect wires or connectors during assembly. And watching how these things are made - with huge assemblies guided into place, I can see why they use such things. Move that dash over 1" as it's being guided into place from the left door opening and you could gouge or scrape something.

That’s where it was! Actually it was on the tray underneath the front bumper towards the right rear corner.

you better put that back or your bumper or fog lights might fall off!

ETA: I used to work on vehicles with my buddy, I’m a jokester. I liked to drop “extra” parts on something he took apart, and then watch him go nuts trying to figure out where it went as he put it back together. Learned that trick a long time ago training new guys. lol
