If you’re looking for someone to give you a hug and tell you it’s ok, this is not the place for that. In fact, most of us here have been waiting (not by choice) and have been less than enthused by it.
Sorry, not sorry.
Just buy the gladiator
Will do eventually.
put the Miata in the trunk
Bed?
or better yet, run it over on the way out of the dealership.

Pfft... I work on heavy-duty trucks for a living. Honestly when someone says "truck" my mind goes to air brakes, a CDL, and 12-ton axles.
Seriously, it is bad form in the community to call it a "car". If you are new to Jeeps and the Wrangler and by proxy the JT, habitually and regularly calling it a "car" will get you push back and ridicule.

Lmao, it’s all in good fun. Some people swear by the Miata’s. I get the whole subcompact thing, I had a GTI and it was easily my favorite vehicle. Fit 4 guys, a subwoofer, a cooler and a 6 foot hero in it, which sounds terrible when I say it out loud, but I digress.

Seriously though, go drive one. All I heard about jeeps was uncomfortable and death wobble. Then I drove a Rubi, and the rest is History (well, technically the rest is a VIN and D status until prolly October). You can’t fall in love proper if you don’t give it a ride first (sorry religious folk)

I remember back when I was still playing with the configurator, dreaming about my Gladiator... Now it's the real deal. Few words of advice...
-Drop the factory bed liner and go aftermarket. Better and cheaper.
-Don't order all weather mats. You don't get the normal carpet mats, and pay full price for the all-weather. Just order them after the fact.
-I can tell from the Miata reference, you're all about the manual Jalops, but research the differences between auto and manual. Auto gives you better fuel economy and better towing.
-Don't trade in the Miata. You'll need it and the Gladiator.

Noted. Line-X?

Now that's a great tip.

I know that autos are better in literally every way. But, I refuse to buy an automatic anything. I honestly just can't stand not doing it myself.

Need? Yeah you're right.

Just know that there's no ill-will. It's just how I see it.

I've always enjoyed playing with GTI's. The Mk4 had a certain likeable character to it, the Mk6 was OK, but the Mk7 is exceptional for a FWD compact hatch.

Lightness is key to a fun car, IMO. With the 2016+ Miatas weighing in at just 2330 LBS, they're a riot out in the mountains.

Soooooo - new member, first post. This is probably the worst thing to do, BUT, hear me out.

I am obsessed with this car. Infatuated, actually. While my friend was buying a leftover Power Wagon, I was bored and decided to drive a JT Sport S. I've driven Jeeps before: YJ's, TJ's, JK's, ect. but this thing was on a whole new level. It's actually livable when it comes to driving it daily. I was shocked, to say the least. Yeah, the steering still sucked and the suspension, while well-behaved, still feels disconnected. But it's a Jeep. It's also a truck. Good steering, dynamics, and chassis communication shouldn't be expected.

Usually when I drive a car there's five things I usually find almost immediately that I hate, and I can usually tell right off the bat. Sorry, but I'm just picky (Don't judge me on the Rodeo, though. I wanted something dirt cheap and practical. Rest assured, I fucking hate it.). With the Jeep, I couldn't find anything I didn't like. The dash is well laid-out, decent enough quality, and loaded with connectivity and usefulness. The interior was just simple and well thought-out, nothing more, nothing less. The on-road manners are stellar for solid axles. The wind noise is minimal for the soft-top. Power is OK, definitely accomplishes its mission. Auto trans tuning was meh, but I'm a die-hard manual driver. The list goes on.

Getting to the point: I have not loved a car this much since I bought the Miata. I LOVE my Miata. But the Gladiator was so damn good, that I almost considered trading in the Miata. Almost. Thought about it for a day and dismissed that option. I know that if I get rid of the Miata, I'm just going to miss it more than life itself. I almost miss my old Volvo that much (Again, don't judge. An AWD, T5, manual wagon? Yes please.). So I'm left with the option of waiting. In less than two years the Miata will be paid off. After that, I plan on ordering and buying the Gladdy. I've played with the configurator so much it isn't funny.

Rubicon
-Firecracker Red (all things must be red)
-Black hardtop (never owning a soft top again)
-Sprayed bedliner (obvious)
-Proximity key (once you have it, it's hard to go back)
-All-weather mats (cleaning is a breeze)
-Trailer tow package (got a motorcycle to tow around)
-LED package (again, once you have it.... plus safety)
-Cold Weather group (the only thing that I actually want, instead of considering it a need)
-Aux switches (just to make wiring stuff up easy as pie)
-MANUAL TRANNY

Grand total with destination charge? $49,610

I have these mouse strokes memorized. I am obsessed with this thing. That's the problem. I'm obsessed. I have a wish list longer than I care to admit on Quadratec. I'm probably going to buy a Tazer JL before I buy the car. I've watched just about every video worth watching on YouTube. How the hell am I supposed to wait? What the hell am I supposed to do in the meantime?

HELP. ME.
Don't worry your not alone. I've spent countless hours on the configurator and I've been obsessed ever since I heard about it. I stayed up the night of the price release and my wife wasn't happy about that nor is she when every other sentence out of my mouth is about a gladiator. She says quite often I should go marry one. I've got to wait till next year but that's not too bad and hey maybe there will be better stuff on the 2021, who knows

I also promised myself I'd never buy another first model year vehicle again. The Miata has had more warranty work than what it's worth, and it was only in its second month of production when mine was built. My Ducati is also a first model year, but has only had recalls done.

Almost 3 pages, and nobody has asked how he managed to get a decked out Rubicon to $49,610?

Last time I built a Rubicon, with only a handful of options, it came to almost $54,000.
