I agree. Don't take your doors or top off. I was going every other weekend and I would see people with all of their gear off and think, "Uh oh!"??Prepare for a LOT of dust.
im leaving everything on since it’s the wife and kids first trip off-road. We’ll save the door/top off adventure for dinner in town.I agree. Don't take your doors or top off. I was going every other weekend and I would see people with all of their gear off and think, "Uh oh!"??
Good idea. Unless it rained recently it will be very dusty. I was going every other weekend. I've got about a half dozen videos on my YT channel.im leaving everything on since it’s the wife and kids first trip off-road. We’ll save the door/top off adventure for dinner in town.
definitely taking snacks and drinks.Good idea. Unless it rained recently it will be very dusty. I was going every other weekend. I've got about a half dozen videos on my YT channel.
But..... see if you can link up with someone else while you're out there. The good thing about HF is the most of the offroaders out there are pretty friendly. I wheeled with an Offroad group, so we had every type of vehicle in the group. Which made it better. But there's always folks out there. I've jumped in and wheeled with a Toyota group before. Lol. I don't know what your skill level is, but If you see some other folks doing obstacles, stop, get out and watch. Best way to learn.
If you plan on doing anything extreme, you'll want to be around others. They'll spot you. If you've never been there before or only a couple times, get a map. That way you don't get crossed up and end up on an extreme trail. That's if you don't plan on doing anything extreme.
If you're a veteran, you get a discount. Slow down on the main road. They'll get ya. But more so for the dust (if it's bad). Pack a lunch. If not, the food truck is usually out there, and they have a store with snacks. They have an air up station. If it seems like there's no air, there's a timer by the building for the compressor. Many people don't know that.
Best thing is to take a few pics and have fun!
Yea. I would roll with San Antonio 4x4 (2 Fat Guys Offroad shop) all the time. They would tell everyone, don't do anything you're not comfortable with. With that being said, If you're in a group or on a route and it looks sketchy, go around. You're going to have fun and enjoy the day. That's the main goal!definitely taking snacks and drinks.
a couple of local clubs are going so there will be more jeeps there. I don’t know what routes they’ll be taking or anything like that and I’m unfamiliar with the park so I thought I’d ask.
I appreciate your input!
Also, I would get a hitch skid before you go.definitely taking snacks and drinks.

I thought about it but came to the conclusion that something that adds length and reduces ground clearance is gonna drag more than it would without adding one. When I get back I’ll let you know if that was a mistake or not hahaAlso, I would get a hitch skid before you go.
You are going to drag.I thought about it but came to the conclusion that something that adds length and reduces ground clearance is gonna drag more than it would without adding one. When I get back I’ll let you know if that was a mistake or not haha
That's the reason that I've never owned a hitch skid. 4yrs with this particular jeep and never owned one and 3yrs out at HF and never needed it. Although I have hit the trails out there and 30 minutes later on a rock somewhere learned that my hitch was still in.???I thought about it but came to the conclusion that something that adds length and reduces ground clearance is gonna drag more than it would without adding one.
