Hey guys,

I'm really curious as to how these 3rd gen diesel engines will be holding up with higher mileage. Being that this diesel platform has only been in the Gladiator for about a year, I can't imagine there being too many high mileage folks out there with their diesels, but I figured it would be nice to start this thread to keep track.

So, if you have a higher mileage diesel, post your numbers and let us know if you've had any issues with it at all.

I currently only have about 1,200 miles on mine. I LOVE the torque and MPG that I'm getting. I usually go through vehicles once a year, but am loving this platform and hope the reliability of it stays true for the next 100k miles at least!

I ordered and picked up my 2021 EcoDiesel Rubicon around Christmas time last year. I now have just under 23,000 miles.

Leaking R/R axle seal around 4k miles, replaced by dealer.

The engine developed a ticking sound that was diagnosed as the alternator clutch. It was replaced by the dealer. Still has the ticking sound, but so do other EcoDiesel Jeeps that I have now listened to. :whew:

Other than the Mopar App telling me I have charging issues, I do not, there is nothing else to report. Yes, it does run hot in the summer climbing up mountain grades. But it has never de-rated on me even with my camper on going over the passes.

I am old school and still change the oil and filter every 3k miles. These new diesel emissions make the EcoDiesel run very dirty. Plugged oil passages plagued the earlier generations. I have no problems spending the extra money. I also use Hot Shot Secret fuel additive products. EDT in the summer and Extreme Diesel in the winter. Helping the fuel system stay well lubricated is a plus. I have changed the intake air filter once and fuel filter twice too. And replaced the cabin filter and replaced gear oil in the diffs. Maintenance!

Love the truck. Love the EcoDiesel. Love the torque. Love the fuel mileage.
Needless to say, I am still in love with this truck!

So far my diesel has around 5k on it. At 4581 miles it blew the high pressure fuel pump catastrophically failed. Fast forward. A month and a half later. She's back. I went to Hotshots secret. So far so good. Love the torque and fuel mileage. Currently averaging around 27 city.
From a real world perspective. I drove a gasser Gladiator for the time mine was in the shop. 22 mpg at its best downhill with a tailwind. Even on overpasses here in Reno. It would kick down to 7 even 6 gear on cruise to maintain speed. My diesel says give me a bigger hill. Then scoffs. Is that all you got?!
Super happy with my choice. Wouldn't change it.

I've got ~23,000mi on my EcoDiesel. Drove it cross country which put on about 10,000mi more than where I would normally.

So far, I've had the right rear axle replaced (common issue across all models of Gladiator) and an error for the charging system has been nagging me in Uconnect. Thought I got it taken care of last time around, but it's come back.

Currently dealing with a case of death wobble, but that's my fault--I installed the Mopar 2" myself. Not sure if I had premature wear on some component after towing a trailer cross country.

By any chance was it the fuel injector pump? Cause I'm not sure but I'm hearing a ticking sound on it and when I did some test driving on another jeep ecodiesel it didn't seem to make that noise ,but yeah

Yep high pressure fuel injector pump. Started it up drove it down the street....and poof went out. They had to replace all the components of the fuel system. Tank all the way to injectors.

Yeah mines only has about 1,200 miles and I've noticed that noise about a month ago and at first I was like meh it's just a diesel but I remembered that it never made that noise before and even when I test drove a new ecodiesel, but I'll take it to the dealer and see what they say about it and if it fails towing it will be my option, kinda disappointed in this new ecodiesel mainly when it comes to the cooling but that's probably fixable

I'm at 11,400 miles as of 9/15/21 (took delivery 1/18/21) with a Mopar 2" lift and BFG 37's installed at 500 miles.
First oil change at 5k miles, 2nd oil change at 10k miles (dealer recommended changing both cabin and engine air filters - which I did).
First road trip at 1,100 miles on the odo from Colorado to Texas and back returned with about 2,300 miles. Averaged 24 mpg heading South and East going downhill, heading back home was a stiff West wind that plummeted fuel mileage to 18 (mostly around 75mph).
Second road trip at 7,100 miles that was only around 350 miles round trip and averaged around 26mpg.
Third road trip Colorado to Montana was around 2,100 miles round trip with mostly 80mph speed limits but still averaged around 23mpg.
So the majority of my miles are city driving seeing only around 3,500 miles road tripping with some additional highway miles here and there.
Have added a total of 5 gallons of DEF since leaving the dealership with the DEF tank full and still showing around 50% left.

So far ... not_one_single_issue ?

Nice! That's what I'm hoping for. I'll be picking mine up with a 2" mopar lift and 37's as well. The fact that you can get over 20mpg to begin with to me is amazing.

Yes just personal preference on the first 2 oil changes, I might ride this next oil change out and see what the computer is showing for percentage of oil life once I get to 15k miles.

After this 3rd oil change through Jeep Wave I will probably start changing my own using the Quaker State from the Oil thread and starting with this next oil change will be sending my oil in for analysis to Blackstone.
