high or low pinion axel?

does anybody know if/where to find out, if the Dana 44 Axels on the Sport (not the wide dana 44s from max tow, but I am interested too) are high or low pinion?

I've been searching around online, however I cannot find the answer.

My bet is it is the standard low pinion found in 99+% of all vehicles.

The HP axles are a specialty item not that common. I ran them F/R they are COSTLY but bring a LOT to the table for the hardcore crowd and you get far more than just added ground clearance. Mostly found at the D 60/70/80 level and unless Dana is making the carrier assembly they are custom castings (Dynatrac) who is a major supplier to the market for heavy duty off road rigs (Petro companies etc).

why would the low pinion ever be used on a Dana 44 if its an inferior design with less ground clearance, less power and greater wear....

I don't get how it would be a cost savings to have low pinion over high?

Low pinion is stronger in the back. High pinion is stronger up front. We’re putting an Aussie locker in the front of my brothers 92 YJ an I was surprised to see a high pinion D30 in it.

interesting, I'm going to go for the Gator colour gladiator so I will be waiting until September/October. When I do get it I'm not driving off the lot until I see it on a lift so I'll report my findings.
