Hey, a wrangler friend and I will run Holcomb Creek tomorrow morning, anybody up for running is welcome to join. Haven’t seen it since the “hurricane” but the middle obstacle was pretty righteous before. Def needed good sliders and other skids helped, would be pretty difficult stock, I think.

thinking meeting here at around 8am and running west to east.

There were a couple spots that were a little washed out on the road up from green valley to Holcomb (crab flats rd or 3N16).
But Holcomb creek itself 3N93 wasn’t too different from what I saw over the summer. I was surprised

Not surprised about crab flats. There were already some road issues up there before.
the minor washouts only add to the fun.
With my schedules now and desert season here I may not get up to that area until next spring. Depending on how the winter weather goes I may get up there for some snow play but if snow predictions are correct I won’t need to go nearly that high.
Thanks for the info.

UPDATE as of 1/10/24
Ran Holcomb yesterday and there was quite a bit of snow on the ground adding to the pucker factor on the washed out climbs/descents. Here are pics of the worst climb as well as the two major rock gardens. It was tricky getting up as it's off camber towards the hillside and the ice was causing us all to slide towards the drop. The rock gardens had snow as well but most the boulders are big enough for a spotter to see. Ran it with the Trail Militia (search YouTube for videos).

After watching a few Trail Militia videos, I’ve decided to never run a trail with them, ever. Spotters almost seem to create more damage when it’s not needed. I’ll pass on that part.

We've done a few runs with Jorge the host and he's done a great job with those that want his help on those trips. I always go with a wheeling buddy I trust and we line up together and spot each other but having been out with Jorge multiple times now, I've seen enough to respect his knowledge and demeanor and I have had him help me multiple times. Not sure what "spotters" you saw on the video but I'd guess it was just folks who went along on the run. He sells merch so you probably saw them in his gear.

I always bring a spotter I regularly wheel with on any run and never trust folks I just met so I get where you're coming from. That being said ultimately the nut behind the wheel is making the call and there's a mixed bag that shows up. Some guys like hitting the hardest lines be it for the videos or the sheer thrill but I find it entertaining like like watching KOH.

We hit Dishpan a few weeks back and here's an example of someone sending it and me taking a more conservative line. If anyone here ever did join, he (or your spotter) can guide you through the line of your choice.
