wonder how difficult it would be to cover the whole wheel and tire and use either steel or aluminium and cover it in UHMW plastic,wish is a really hard plastic that people use on skids since it slides off real easy compared to aluminum wish is soft and can sometimes get you hungover on rocks compared to steel wich ive experienced myself
I thought about it... but the weight of the truck on the Plastic would possibly fail... but it would probably hold long enough to deflect the rock. I think that would work as an option too. I do coat the alum with a slippery paint... to help address the sticking issue.

yeah i can see your point of view but UHMW is tough as nails man it can take the weight of a vehicle on a rock and slide off and hold up like "nothing happened" just saying from personal experience from having it on my old 3rd gen tacoma and other peoples rigs
