I'm thinking of a DIY project to combine a Hot Head Headliner with marine headliner material on the edges (white part) of my freedom panels. Hot Heads seem to have the greatest amount of publicity with a lot of reviews and videos on various platforms. Other manufactures have headliners that go out to the edges that have a more factory look to them but might not have the level of sound deadening and temperature control gained by using Hot Heads. So, why not spend more money to get the best of both worlds? I haven't pulled any triggers yet, but I'm close. My thought is to dry fit the Hot Heads in their final position and to mark the edges. Then, using the marine headliner material, cut, form, and adhere it into the negative space to cover everything else leaving 1/16 of an inch overlap. Then go back and install the Hot Heads. Obviously there will be seams where the two solutions meet, but is this something worth taking on? My tendency, to the rolling eyes of my wife, is to always do more in the way of function and styling. This would be a perfect example of that. ? I just wanted to get thoughts, solutions and ideas, and any pointers from this group as I've , seen so many great mods and builds here. Thanks!

I haven't used any of these products yet, but you might want to look at CoverKing - I think they have a "whole cab" solution.....

Thanks for that. Yes, I've seen CoverKing. They look really good. To my point though, from my research, they don't necessarily have the same level of sound deadening and insulating materials. But I could be wrong.

This thread might be of interest to you. They combined the CoverKing with additional sound damping material and did an entire write up of their install:

This post on a related thread shows what another person did for building their own headliner, and the thread also has some other solutions:

I've definitely been peeping all the options myself, while I wait on my Mojave. I'm a little hard of hearing when there is lots of background noise, which doesn't bother me at all. However, the passengers, when present, complain about the radio being too loud.

That's great. Thank you.

Would be awesome to pair Hot Heads up with the Invictus Molle panels in a clean way that didn't look too DIY if you know what I mean. Basically modular sound deadening & storage all in one go.
