Been waiting on Gator but may go Black instead and have it wrapped. I live in Los Angeles- anyone have an idea of cost to wrap and/or recommendations of a good shop?

Expect to pay $2K - $5K+ for a quality wrap job and more likely on the higher end of that range. My advice, wait for what you want.

I would like to learn to wrap as well. Thinking of wrapping the fenders, grill and wrapping the tailgate similar to the Wayout.

It's really not terribly hard, just very time consuming. Make sure you have a sharp exacto knife (although I prefer knifeless tape), a nice felt-wrapped squeegee, a heat gun, and some QUALITY vinyl like 3M 1080. The vinyl is very forgiving.

I'm going to go for a Jurassic Park theme next year

Stupid question but I've always wanted to ask...why is everyone wrapping verses a paint job? Is it cheaper or better?

A quality wrap job is cheaper than a quality paint job. Also, a wrap is reversible where paint isn't. A wrap can provide some protection from trail rash than paint (which is what gets scratched anyways).
