How okay is it for water to get behind the back seats?

What’s y’all’s opinion on if you attempt to put the hardtop back on in most cases of a chance of rain but get the unlucky downpour every once in awhile? Are the interiors of these optional top vehicles that fragile? I have the Bluetooth speaker, the alpine sub and those harnesses behind the rear seat. So it’s possible for one or all of these things to be ruined if I get caught in a rain shower with a safari top on? I used to run my TJ this way and got caught in a few showers and it always dried out and I went on with life.

Did you read the previous posts? I run the Bimini top most of the summer.

I don’t have armorlite, I still have the carpet and not excited to remove it if it gets wet. Plus most of the posts talk about the electronics back there and better not let them get wet at all or the truck won’t start, etc.

Now that we’ve laid it all out, what feels like the best path for you?

Sounds like leaving the hard top on year round would be the most convienent option. I’d hate to take it on and off every 2-3 days so behind the rear seat doesn’t get wet and make the truck inoperable.

Mine hasn't had any issues getting wet. The seats soak up a lot of water.

I guess what the previous posts have me worried about is the electronic harnesses that live back there and the sub. How likely is it that these harnesses see a rain shower a couple times a year and fail? Seems like gloom and doom from some previous posts on here.

Have you had any issues with anything electronic behind the rear seat getting damaged or malfunctioning due to moisture?

No. I have the sub, but I don't have the Bluetooth speaker.

I would assume Jeep made it all to withstand a little weather. I’m not worried about the BT speaker. Got worried about these wire harnesses being talked about in previous posts.

Apologies if the earlier posting has you unnecessarily worried. I just wanted to point out a possible concern if water manages to get into the wiring or electronics, in no way was I trying to say that it was likely to happen. Chances are quite good that there'll be no problem other than soggy carpet and seats if your Jeep gets caught in the occasional downpour, but I'd err on the side of caution and try to avoid getting too much water too often inside as it may come back to bite you later.

Thank you for the clarification. I definitely understand not wanting a bunch of water in there. I think I’m going to give it a try and throw the hard top back on when I can and see chances are good for rain.

Something like this might help.

A cab cover for when you are parked to keep it from getting soaked while parked in a down pour.
It is cheap enough, just carry it with you and put it on when rain is possible while it is parked.
I would think you can use it in conjunction with a Bimini top or without. That is roughly what we do with our JKU and likely what we will do with the JT.

I use a tarp, or Mopar cover over my safari top on rainy days.

I have that same product except it's the TJ version. Works very well. :like:
