I am looking for Mopar part # 68422264AD. This part has been replaced by a very similar part 68422264AE. The AE part will not work for me as I need for a 2020 Gladiator hardtop.

This is the cover that goes over the plug for the rear window defrosted on the OEM hard top. I don't seem to be able to find it anywhere.

Why wont the AE suffix part not work? Generally when they revise the part and keep the base number with a new suffix, it is generally backwards compatible.

So this is the specific difference between the AD and the AE. The AD has the snap tab horizontal. The AD is Vertical. if you had the original AD and the associated base it is a vertical snap tab. AE and associated base is Horizontal.

I am looking for an AD as I don't want to change my base. It is riveted to the hard top and I don't want to mess with that if I don't absolutely have to.

I did buy a replacement. What I thought was the AD is actually the AE and it will not work with my base. I went to my dealership and purchased the new upgraded base but it is riveted to the nard top in three places.
