Let me set the record straight.
I am not saying that my fuel tank is larger than anyone else's.
But, If by some weird chance. During my build, an overworked employee, put in a larger tank fuel tank, so be it.
But the manual clearly says 18.3 gallons + 5 for the def.
My point is, once the air and the foam died down, I was able to safely put a couple of more gallons into the tank.
That's all, nothing more.

By the way, yesterday was one week since that post. I was able to get 462 miles on that tank.
And the fuel gauge read 1/4 with 23 miles to empty.
An overworked employee just pulled a larger tank out of their backside and it just happened to fit and mount up perfectly with the diesel specific filler and pump? Cool story. You had a quarter tank left after 462 miles but only 23 miles to empty? Sounds like you have a gauge issue.

The thing has 440 miles of range on a full 18 gallon tank. I’m not hung up on trying to extend that.

Just think of it this way:

By stopping at 1 click you get to save your fuel vapor recovery system from damage and as
an added bonus you get to pick up another one of those sweet cream cheese stuffed pretzels from Wawa or some tasty gas station chicken (which we all know is the best chicken) just a few miles earlier than if you had put a little more fuel in it. Sounds like a win win to me.
Plugged evap will be far cheaper than clogged arteries but you do you.

I believe the vent hose on the diesels is too small or something because mine will also take an additional 2-4 gallons after the pumps clicks off which I always have set to the slowest to keep the foam down. It’s a pain in the backside but getting 20 mpg that’s an additional 40-60 miles so I’ll stand there and trickle it in until I see the liquid dinosaur in the fill neck.

I can get another 3 gallons in my diesel once it clicks off. Have to take my time to squeeze it in because of the foam. On my f250 work truck. When it clicks off. I'm looking at it. No foam. There is no evaporation can on the diesel so don't worry about it

On my 5.7 hemi Power Wagon. I used to fill when it clicked off. Then try to squeeze a couple more in. Well........that cost me an evap can. Lesson learned on that one and I knew better.
