installing CB radio - Where to put Negative?!

Howdy! I'm installing a CB into the Gladiator, But am reading conflicting information as to where to ground the radio. Some say to the chassis, and some just say go directly to the battery.

What is the proper way to do it?

If you can, ground to the battery.

If it's not reasonable that you can get a direct wire to the battery negative, a good clean and solid chassis ground will work fine as a 2nd option.
