Hey All,

Thanks for what seems to be a dumb question, do all gladiators come with an inverter, even if there is no AC plug?

How much do you figure install would be of an inverter and bed wiring?

Thanks

The inverter is only installed if ordered from the factory. That includes one outlet on the back of the center console. The outlet in the bed is an option that has to be ordered separately. The factory inverter is only 400 watts. It is not available as a dealer installable option.

There is a DIY thread on adding the bed outlet and switch that controls it. The process doesn't seem too difficult, but the truck has to already have the factory installed inverter.

Right - no plug in the rear center of the console, no inverter. They don't install an inverter and then not put in any outlet at all - that's sort of - well, silly?

And 400W ain’t very much. It’s good for charging batteries for cordless tools & electronics, but not too good for corded tools or heating appliances.
At 120VAC, it’s only about 3 amps.

Frankly that console outlet was marketed as used for laptops, tablets, portable dvd players and so on. The external one in the bed was shown for filling air mattresses, outside lights and so on. They made it pretty clear their intent but you know the buying public.......hey, I'll power this big air compressor or my power saw. No one suggested some owners thought beyond: hey, an outlet! Works in my garage so why not this one?
