When I had mine I did the antenna hide. It's really not too difficult. I don't use AM/FM, but I tested before and after and saw no difference. Replaced it with another badge from Ebay.

I actually *like* the factory antenna. It pulls in the FM station I listen to baseball and hockey. What I didn’t like that it was a silver color that clashed with my black Rubi. Another plus of the OEM antenna is that it is the highest point on my vehicle, and thus serves as an early warning system when I pull in to a parking garage with a questionable ceiling height.

To remedy the color clash, I removed the antenna, tied thread around the base, then hosed it down with some black spray paint. I then wrapped electrical tape around the base so wrenching it off at the car wash didn’t scratch the paint. This has worked well for me for the last several years.
