My local Fleet Farm here in WI has buy 4 for the price of 3 on either Goodyear or Cooper tires.
Are the Goodyear MT's or DuraTracs any good?

Duratrac largest size is 35x12.50x17 or 315/70/17. The MT is the same I believe.

Can't speak for the 37s, but CURRENTLY, our local dealership is hard to beat the pricing on 35s, with their buy 3 get 1 for $1 offer. PLUS, check to see if your local dealership has a 15% discount for parts and service, too.

Right now, I'm being quoted $1485.92 for 5 Toyo AT3's, mounted, balanced, old tires disposed of, and out the door... and that's within 5 miles of the house. The nearest Discount Tire, quoted $1635+tax... and that's 25 miles away... and, strangely, the sizing is different than what the dealership and manufacturer spec. (11.5 vs 12.5)

So, while prices may be high, overall, you may want to check for additional discounts, everywhere. (assuming you have a dealership nearby that you trust)

I've never looked into pricing on tires this big before until I got my JTR and needless to say i'm in sticker shock.
$462 for a 37x12.5x17 Nitto Ridge Grappler at Discount Tire...is this really what it will cost to get into 37's per tire?!?!
I purchased 5 Nitto Trail Grapplers, 37x12 50 R20 and they were $458 at Discount Tire but that was last April 2021. I thought it was a pretty decent deal and was comparable to what other stores were charging.

I got the walmart deal for 5x37s for $600 shipped. Just wait for the deal to pop again.

I only needed 4, so I was in for under $500 delivered

I can't believe that Walmart deal!! Was that a steep discount per tire, or was that a 4 for 3 kinda deal? And was this an intentional sale or did somebody in the web dept. have a fubar moment?!

Per tire was $116.61 + tax, it honestly looked more like an inventory reduction more than a sale or fubar moment.
I've caught two Wally world sales so far, the Kenda's I'm currently running 315/70/17 (5 for $446.78) and then the Maxxis 37x13.5x17 (5 for $644.35) which are in the garage for the springtime.
Both times the tires were sold and shipped by Wal-Mart and seemed to last as long as Wal-Mart had stock.

Think I found some lightly used 37x12.50 ridge grapplers local with wheels. They're a 20" wheel, either 9 or 10" wide with a -18 offset, hopefully that won't cause any rubbing issues. Fingers crossed i can make that deal work.

I don’t think greed has anything to do with it… supply and demand…. Look at the quantity of vehicles running a ~315/70r17 ball park around a 35” tire on a 17” wheel…. A ton more than the folks running 37-42” tires…. What’s that crappy saying that everyone thinks is “ugly”-
Gotta pay to play? Seriously though…. I already noted the obvious above. If the cost of tires is a cringe for 37>35’s… just stop… stick with 35’s. There is a significant decrease in longevity to parts once you take that tiny step up to a 37. - for those out there who want to counter and argue their sister cousin ran 40’s stock axles, no re gear, no truss just fine for 16 years in a JL…. Well there is always a ? I suppose… the grim reality is 37+ things are going to start to break parts quicker. It is what it is…. a lot of the things that break are going to cost more than the 37” tires that caused it. (Just my .02…..- random dude on the internet ?)
meh. I sold my steel front bumper for 500 dollars. Could i have asked 800? Sure, but 500 covered the bumper i wanted. Instead of being greedy, i decided to hook a fellow jeeper up. Im not saying anything is wrong with getting a better price, id just rather be made whole than have more.

I get supply and demand, but being in the industry, I constantly see consumers being overcharged just to meet a bottom line. Its business, i get it, but its driven by how full i can make the owners pockets. Setting records every year.

Im debating going back to 33"s just for MPGs. 37s i want, but youre right, ill stay at 35s for that price bc im poor and cheap. lol. biggest reason is i have a pavement princess right now. One of the rules from the wife, cant break it until its paid for. Add axles, upgrade brakes (gotta stop those monsters too!), and probably new wheels and its alot. Ive never ran 37s so i cant comment on that. You seem much more experienced in that regard.

i do think 245/75r17 are ugly on the gladiators. they should come with a meatier tire, stock or not.

and i agree, you gotta pay to play. I say this alot when im hungover, does not help at all
