I am seeing tons of posts on the FB groups about how folks are getting/trading in their JTs for either slightly less than what they paid for their Jeeps, or even thousands more. Few are sharing details on their original purchase or condition of the Jeep at sale/trade.

I will say my Jeep is worth, according to Carvana/Vroom/etc around $14k LESS than what I paid for it, which was $4k less than MSRP/sticker.

I bought my JT Sport Max Tow 10/2019. It has 40k miles and been in 2 minor accidents: a rear end where the rear bumper and hitch apparatus were replaced ($3k) and a side-impact from a 1990s sedan-type Toyota sliding into it resulting in a small dent in a door-related panel and a rock slider that had to be replaced (cost more, some seals and color-blending resulted in more costs). Even without the damage, plug-and-chugging the different damage/mileage I am still at least valued about $10k less than what I paid, about $30k. Seems like mileage (ie entering 15k instead of 40k miles) adds about $3k, and reporting no collisions results in another $2-3k. I did get a diminished value claim for one of the collisions, the other was a hit-and-run (essentially) that covered bumper/winch/tires.

So, has anyone else toyed with the online places and tried to see if your ballpark trade-in is NOT close to what you paid for it? Provide some details of your purchase, like what you got, features, price paid or amount below MSRP, mileage, collisions, etc.

I wouldn't trade in my JT unless I had a NEED. There's 40k miles of great memories on this JT. It's my first Jeep, brought my first kid home, took my wife to the E.R and saved he life, was my first experience off-roading, etc. If I needed to get a more family-oriented vehicle (i.e. hybrid/electric SUV/mini-van with AWD) and could do so without taking a loss, I might one day consider it. But for now,
