I guess if I was in the market for a Gladiator 392 or something I’d be a little miffed but for someone who got his dream Jeep, this is a bit of a yawner.

I've kind of tuned out on a v8 option since I'm sure there would be no manual and the JT is my "practical" vehicle anyways.

News? Not really. It's been assumed with the other options in play that it wouldn't be happening.
There simply isn't the volume and the I6 is going to make moving a V8 into places they haven't been less likely than before
