My wife and I are newbies. We live in E Tennessee where there appears to be plenty of places to go offroad.
Are the jeep jamborees worth it?

I’m a noob as well and here is what I’ve found. These events can help with a few things:
  • Organized runs in different parts of the country
  • Socialization with ā€˜like mindedā€˜ people
  • Getting comfortable with your vehicles capabilities
I’m currently debating daily on the Idaho Jamboree right now because of the whole ā€˜physical distancing’ thing.

I’d have to imagine that it will really water down the socialization aspect of the event. It looks like the dinner events are canceled so you would be limited to the people that are on your trail.

I’ve asked some other Jeep friends (who have more experience) about going with me and all responses are something like ā€˜I’m not paying to go out to sit in a line waiting my turn. I’d rather go with a small group.’

Also the costs... Some are IMO crazy expensive. The Death Valley one is way higher than the Idaho one.

I think it would be cool but I can’t get myself to commit.

That’s my $0.02. I can’t wait to read other responses.

Thanks for the input. We've gone on a couple of rides with the local jeep club. Although they were fun, there wasn't any instruction and there were more than 70 jeeps in attendance. The least one they put on (we didn't attend) had over 100.

I've considered going on one. Where I live there are no trails. There are some ohv parks in PA but that's 4 hours away. I agree that they are costly but with the included meals I feel that could be justified, but if they are cancelling that.....
