Today such parts are about the same as cold air intake.
And a CAI does nothing but make owners feel good and make it sound better.
You don't gain power or mpg unless you race the thing and keep a constant higher RPM. The restriction is not the air box in these. And the computer will adjust after a while anyway, negating anything you think your butt dyno told you.

Truthfully, though, with earlier engines spacers worked. A lot of guys get better times at the track with spacers - under the carburetor.
There's a science to it. Increase the momentum of the shaft of air coming in.
That starts at the air horn of a carb, so spacers, IF used with other tuning (exhaust, etc.) does work.
It even worked on the older Jeep engines (yeah, the 4.0)
Larger throttle bodies and spacers worked then, but they weren't as finely tuned as today's stuff.
A lot of what worked 20 years ago just doesn't carry forward.

and a less restrictive air intake. And even the intake is kinda sketch.
These would only be restrictive at higher RPM.
These things are running in economy - low lift mode - up to 2800 RPM. You'd never feel or see a difference on hills, slow driving, in town, or most highway conditions.
You can put a lot of CFM through the intakes on these - and these don't pull all that much air in the grand scheme of things. Not at normal RPMs.
The restriction is the size of the throttle more than anything else.

thats what i figured but its not in the budget right now with how expensive everything is and no end in sight.
A throttle controller is really the only budget friendly thing that can help in your situation. It's analogous to putting on rose colored glasses but it kinda helps you get something that feels like stock performance.
