I love the Gladiator name b/c of the history of it. I doubt though that most potential buyers will know that history so it'll be interesting to gauge the general market's reaction to it. I have to assume that auto companies focus group the hell out of potential names but I could be wrong.

Now that I think about it, Gladiator makes me think of Russel Crow. :)
Edit: Meant to quote post #15. I don't recall that quote but just referencing the movie Airplane makes me laugh.

Especially for this Bad Mamma Jamma, I always thought Jeep should use "all" the names as a way to distinguish trim levels

Gladiator = like a "Sport"
Gladiator = like a "Sahara"
Crew Chief (or something with 'Chief' in the name) = like a Rubicon

I've been thinking about the Gladiator resurrection and I am very optimistic that the name will stick. So, I've been flipping around through the pictures of the test mule and then looking at pictures of the good old CJ Gladiators. I think it would be awesome to see Jeep pay homage to the original Gladiator if that is the name that sticks. Small things, like the tailgate of the JT having raised "JEEP" scripting (that is more of a CJ thing, but still!). I'd even like to see the bed mounted roll bar with the spare tire mounted in it maybe as an option. None the less, I'm willing to bet that the aftermarket parts will be in abundance when these bad boys hit the lots!

I believe that the "Gladiator" nameplate is being resurrected for the JT, anyone else believe there is any truth to this?
Looking forward to this truck, it will nearly complete my fleet of extended wheelbase Jeep trucks. An '81 Scrambler, a '66 CJ-6, and my '06 LJ
