I'm seeing CV boots on my 2021 JT Rubicon. Is this something new? I'm not exactly loving seeing it, just another thing what will brake eventually. I'd rather not have it. It's for the 4 auto I imagine ? Is this an extra option or comes standard on all of them ?

It's a CV joint vs universal joint. Should be stronger bc of the full time 4wd system he opted for.

OP I will gladly swap front axle shafts with you if you'd prefer a no boot universal joint!
So this system is better, than the old no CV joint system (like in the JK's) ? Apart from the fact that this has 4 Auto.
Never had any front end issues with my JKUR in the past.

Time will tell what's better, but in general you'd expect a CV to be stronger than universal. When people replace their front axles for better ones usually they do RCV which are... CV.

This comes when you get AWD or 4Auto.

CVJs are tougher and can handle a heavier load when the wheel it turned hard off center, in a way that U Joints can't. The only down side is that the boots can be torn.

Yes it's part of the 4 auto system. And it's awesomeness!

As a headsup dont swap your shafts with anyone, your gonna regret it once your truck starts to crow hop when you do full lock turns with the universal joints, your cv's will be perfect since it won't hop at full lock and risk breaking u-joint

Trust me - those CV joints are tough. They'll turn TIGHT and take plenty of torque without jumping around like u-joints in an axle. You'll bust a u-joint up there before a CV joint.
Yes, the boots can tear and wear - and if they do replace them immediately. But that's not hard, either.

Guarantee I can turn sharper under load than you can..........

I keep a spare axle assembly and a pair of spare boots for this.
